I'm excited to announce I'll be offering a new mosaic course this fall at the beautiful, new Institute of Mosaic Art as part of the Visiting Artist Series. The class is perfect for all of you who are hankering for some solid mosaic-making time, while taking your work to a new level.

MOSAICS FROM THE MIND’S EYE: Connecting to Your Creative Power
SEPTEMBER 27th - NOVEMBER 15th

The class will run 8 evening sessions, on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 9:30 pm. It will be a beautiful way to enjoy the autumn season, and finish with a fabulous new mosaic just in time to impress all your friends & relatives at the Thanksgiving get-together!

Mosaics from the Mind's Eye:
Connecting to your Creative Power:

In this NEW extended workshop, students will experience an inspiring environment in which to take your mosaic art to a deeper level of creative connection.

Working within the framework of “the sacred circle”, I will discuss the theories of mandalas, crop circles, labyrinths and other “circular” resources for tapping into the inner creative flow. Each week we will integrate the mosaic-making with a variety of creative exercises, visuals, and lectures to focus the process as we design, choose materials, and set a uniquely personal 24” diameter mosaic wall piece. We will explore ways to work more freely and intuitively to develop a personal mosaic style. You will receive continued, one-on-one guidance in developing your own piece and be offered support as the creative journey unfolds with each class. As a special acknowledgment and finale to this workshop, you are invited to exhibit the finished “Mind’s Eye” artwork at the Institute of Mosaic Art from December 7 - January 1, 2006.

You are free to work with the materials of your choice (tile, glass, stone, mixed media, etc.) and should have the appropriate tools for the media. Experimentation is encouraged! The class is designed for intermediate level mosaic artists, though anyone with a good handle on various mosaic techniques is invited to attend. Some homework may be needed, depending on the complexity of your design.

Materials note: Recommended supplies and a reading list for the session will be provided upon registration. A 24” wooden base, adhesives, grout and selected tesserae will be provided by IMA. You may choose to augment these materials with your own choice of mosaic materials and bring them to the second class.
